Selection of candidates for the post of judge at the ECtHR
The work of the Ad hoc Working Group on national practices for the selection of candidates for the post of judge at the European Court of Human Rights, which held two meetings in September 2011 and January 2012, has led to the adoption by the Steering Committee for Human Rights (CDDH), at its 74th meeting (7-10 February 2012), of draft Guidelines of the Committee of Ministers on the selection of candidates for the post of judge at the European Court of Human Rights.

The Guidelines address the procedures of selection, at national level, of candidates for the post of judge at the Court, before a High Contracting Party’s list is submitted to the consulting panel and subsequently to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The activity was conducted from 2011 to 2012.
