How to find your way to the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg?
European Youth Centre
The airport is now 9 minutes away from Strasbourg railway station, with the TER Alsace shuttle (TER means Regional express train).
The new TER Entzheim airport station is directly linked to the airport with a gangway and a secured pedestrian walk.
A 3,60 € Tram+TER ticket allows you to travel between the airport and the CUS (Strasbourg Urban Community). With this ticket you may combine your travel TER Strasbourg – Entzheim airport with Strasbourg public transportation network (CTS). This ticket is valid for 1h30 once stamped. If you buy a voucher with 10 tickets, its price per unit is 2,90 €.
Tickets can be bought at the CTS shops and automatons.
Take TRAM C from outside the train station, direction Neuhof Rodolphe Reuss and get off at République from where you can take a TRAM E direct Robertsau Boecklin directly to the Parlement Européen stop.
Take TRAM A direction Illkirch – Lixenbuhl or TRAM D direction Etoile and get off at Homme de Fer (second stop). See Map 1 below. Then follow the instructions marked *.
A ticket costs 1,50 € and should be bought from the machine on the platform. Don't forget to stamp the ticket on the platform before boarding the tram. The ticket is valid for connecting public transport for one hour after stamping.
Important: you must stamp your ticket each time you change trams within the hour.
Alternative: take Bus No 2, direction Port du Rhin, stop at Lycée Kléber. (about 13 mn travel). Take Tram E, direction Robertsau Boecklin, and stop at Parlement Européen (3 mn travel).
Using the same ticket which brought you from the Railway Station, at Homme de Fer take Tram B direction Hoenheim Gare and get off at Wacken (the last tram leaves Homme de Fer at 00h30). Then you take TRAM E – direction Robertsau –Boecklin and get off at the first stop – Parlement Européen. Then walk to the EYC - See red dotted line on map 2 below.
Please note that if you decide to walk to the EYC from Wacken following the tram line it will take you approx 15 minutes.
From all directions you will find Palais de l'Europe or Institutions Européennes signs which lead to the Council of Europe main building (with a row of flags outside).
With the Palais de l’Europe on your left, walk/drive (+/- 200 m) to the Human Rights Building. Turn left at the traffic lights into Allée René Cassin and continue through 2 sets of traffic lights and over a bridge (stay in the lefthand lane if driving). At the end of the boulevard turn right into Rue Pierre de Coubertin.
You may also walk to the EYC by turning left immediately after the Pont de la Rose Blanche, and go along the Quai Ernest Bevin following the Tram tracks on the pedestrian lane. Once at the crossroads, with the European Parliament on your left, take the rue Pierre de Coubertin on your right.
The Centre Européen de la Jeunesse (EYC) is signposted from there. The EYC is the four storey concrete building on the right hand side with the European flag on the roof. Welcome, you have made it!
In town you can find taxis at the Railway Station and near the Homme de Fer tram stop. A taxi from town to the EYC will cost between 10 & 15 €.
Taxis for participants in Training Courses and Study Sessions will only be reimbursed by the EYC from the town centre or the train station to the EYC on presentation of a receipt and when taken between 21h at night and 7h in the morning. Don't forget to ask for your receipt (facture)!
Please refer to document DJS/G (2009) 4E ‘Financial arrangements for participants of activities of the Directorate of Youth and Sport’ for travel rules for participants in activities at the EYC in Strasbourg.
