ALTERNATIVES
Countering hate speech and injustice through dialogue and human rights education

Training workshop organised by the Council of Europe Youth Department in the framework of the
7th Mediterranean University on Youth and Global Citzenship (MedUni)

9-16 June 2019
Hammamet, Tunisia

Aims and objectives:

The workshop will explore the current issues in relation to hate speech and human rights and develop the competences of youth and human rights activists to combat hate speech, with special regard to support Mediterranean youth work and Euro-Arab youth cooperation.

Specific objectives of the training include:

-    To support peer learning and develop the capacity of activists and youth leaders active in the No Hate Speech youth campaigns in Morocco and Tunisia through human rights education based on the manuals We Can! and Bookmarks and in the context of the UNSCR 2250  the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16: “peace, justice and strong institutions”
-    To facilitate the meeting and consultation of participants with a group of experts in related topics and the possible prospect of the creation of a regional “Think Tank” on hate speech and human rights in the region.
