EYC Strasbourg

The European Youth Centre in Strasbourg (EYCS) with its meeting and conference rooms, restaurant area and bedrooms, has a capacity of up to 90 guests. It is used to implement the Council of Europe youth programme.
The Centre can also be used by Council of Europe directorates and external organisations for meetings, seminars and training courses, with accommodation and catering services available on the spot.

Rooms and facilities
We have 63 bedrooms catering for 90 people: 40 single rooms, 17 double rooms, 2 triple rooms, a studio, as well as 3 bedrooms equipped to receive wheelchair users and those with mobility impairments.
Three meeting rooms are equipped with interpretation facilities that cater for groups of 48, 52 and 110 people. There are also six smaller meeting rooms for working groups.
The EYCS has a cyber centre with eight computers, which are at the disposal of the participants, as well as a wide range of technical equipment.
A sauna is also available for guests staying at the EYCS.

Bedrooms for wheelchair users
Three bedrooms available
- One electronic height and position adjustable bed with optional side rails. The bed also has a triangular hand trip to assist with transfers. The bed is designed for people over 12 years of age and maximum 190 cm body height with a maximum weight of 135 kg. The height of the bed can be adjusted from 29cm to 70 cm.
- Larger doors (width: 90 cm).
- One standard single bed for an accompanying person.
- Rolling trolley for equipment.
- Low handles for opening/closing windows.
- An adjoining bathroom (wet room) with roll-in shower, wall bar and fold-down seat, toilet with wall bar, and wash-hand basin.
- Accessible gender neutral toilets on levels 1 and 3.
Moving around the building
- Elevator for one wheelchair from level 1 to level -1 (Maximum weight 400KG). Standard lift to levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 (door width: 80cm, lift interior: 200cm length and height and 110cm width).
- Lower level section of reception desk for wheelchair users.
- Braille on all bedroom doors and other strategic points in the building.
- Accessible gender neutral public toilets on levels 1 and 3.
- European Youth Centre staff will show visitors with visual impairments round the building on request. Assistance/guide dogs are welcome.
Facilities for deaf and hard of hearing participants
- Humantechnik (Lisa model) flashboxes for hard of hearing or deaf participants. The flashboxes can be used in 4th and 5th floor bedrooms. When plugged in and placed on the bedside table, the box will beep and flash to alert the occupant in case of a general fire alarm.
- For participants using hearing aids, an induction loop in meeting room 0.1 on level -1. Portable loops are available on request (Humantechnik LA-90 model). An induction loop can also be made available at reception.

- Photocopying: if you wish to make photocopies during your meeting, please contact the technicians or the reception. You will receive a code which allows you to use the photocopier. Please note that the number of copies you make will be charged to you and the amount included in your invoice.

Breakfast: a self-service buffet is available.
Lunch and dinner: include a starter, a main course with salad bar (vegetarian alternative available on request), dessert and /or fresh fruit, a soft drink or wine.
Coffee/tea breaks: refreshments are available upon request.
Ordering meals: meals can only be provided if ordered at least seven working days in advance. The restaurant serves meals for a minimum of 15 or more guests or 10 for breakfast.
- Pre-arranged restaurant services can only be cancelled or modified in writing at least seven days in advance.
Receptions
The restaurant offers a diverse range of catering options. Receptions should be ordered at least seven days in advance, indicating the type you require, for example, a cocktail reception with finger food, cold buffet, hot/cold buffet, VIP reception, etc. The EYCS will send you a quote of the cost. The order will be valid once written confirmation of the quote has been accepted.

Reservations and prices
Any organisation, association or institution planning international conferences or training courses and subscribing to the aims of the Council of Europe can book the European Youth Centre Strasbourg as the venue for its activities, use its facilities, and establish contact and co-operation with the Council of Europe.
The EYCS welcomes activities dealing with education and youth work, human rights, democracy and other areas related to the building of civil society. The Centre is particularly well equipped to host training and seminar activities requiring facilities for interactive training methods, as well as conferences and meetings requiring interpretation.

Lufthansa shuttle to and from Frankfurt Airport
Please note that the shuttle also stops at the Hotel Hilton. This stop is much nearer to the Youth Centre than the train station.
It is about a 3-5 minute walk from the nearest tram stop (Lycée Kléber stop). Take the E-line (terminus Robertsau-Boecklin) and get off two stops later at Parlement Européen stop. There is then a short walk (3-5 minutes) downhill to the European Youth Centre. From Strasbourg Airport, Entzheim
The airport is now nine minutes away from Strasbourg railway station with the TER Alsace shuttle (TER means Regional Express Train).
Easier access
The new TER Entzheim Airport station is directly linked to the airport by a gangway and secured pedestrian walkway.
All-in-one fare
A 4,10 € Tram+TER ticket allows you to travel between the airport and the CUS (Strasbourg Urban Community). With this ticket, you may combine your travel TER Strasbourg – Entzheim Airport with the Strasbourg public transport network (CTS). This ticket is valid for one hour and 30 minutes once it has been stamped. If you buy a voucher with10 tickets, the price per unit is 3,22 €.
Tickets can be bought at the CTS shops and ticket dispensers.
From the railway station
Take TRAM C from outside the train station, terminus Neuhof Rodolphe Reuss and get off at République from where you can take a TRAM E terminus Robertsau Boecklin directly to the Parlement Européen stop.
OR
Take TRAM A terminus Illkirch – Lixenbuhl or TRAM D terminus Etoile and get off at Homme de Fer (second stop). See Map 1 below. Then follow the instructions marked *.
A ticket costs 1,60 € and should be bought from the machine on the platform. Don't forget to stamp the ticket on the platform before boarding the tram. The ticket is valid for connecting public transport for one hour after stamping.
Important: you must stamp your ticket each time you change trams within the hour.
Alternative: take Bus No 2, terminus Port du Rhin, stop at Lycée Kléber (about 13 mn travel). Take Tram E, terminus Robertsau Boecklin, and stop at Parlement Européen (3 mn travel).
From Homme de Fer (town centre)
Using the same ticket which brought you from the Railway Station, at Homme de Fer take Tram B terminus Hoenheim Gare and get off at Wacken (the last tram leaves Homme de Fer at 00.30). Then take TRAM E – terminus Robertsau –Boecklin and get off at the first stop – Parlement Européen. Then walk to the EYC - See red dotted line on map 2 below.
Please note that if you decide to walk to the EYC from Wacken following the tram line it will take you approx 15 minutes.
By car/foot from the Council of Europe main building
From all directions you will find Palais de l'Europe or Institutions Européennes signs which lead to the Council of Europe main building (with a row of flags outside).
With the Palais de l’Europe on your left, walk/drive (+/- 200 m) to the Human Rights Building. Turn left at the traffic lights into Allée René Cassin and continue through two sets of traffic lights and over a bridge (stay in the lefthand lane if driving). At the end of the boulevard, turn right into Rue Pierre de Coubertin.
You may also walk to the EYC by turning left immediately after the Pont de la Rose Blanche, and go along the Quai Ernest Bevin following the Tram tracks on the pedestrian lane. Once at the crossroads, with the European Parliament on your left, take the rue Pierre de Coubertin on your right.
The Centre Européen de la Jeunesse (EYC) is signposted from there. The EYC is the four-storey concrete building on the right-hand side with the European flag on the roof. Welcome, you have made it!
Taxi
In town you can find taxis at the Railway Station and near the Homme de Fer tram stop. A taxi from town to the EYC will cost between 10 € & 15 €.
Taxis for participants in training courses and study sessions will only be reimbursed by the EYC from the town centre, the train station or the Hilton Hotel to the EYC on presentation of a receipt and when taken between 21.00 at night and 07.00 in the morning. Don't forget to ask for your receipt ("facture" in French)!

The EYCS regularly welcomes groups and gives them a presentation of the Youth Department, its programmes and its activities, as well as documentation.
You may address your request to the EYCS reception indicating the date/schedule you would like to visit, the number of people in your group, and if applicable the thematics of interest to you. We would appreciate if you would also mention the country(ies) you come from and the name of your organisation.
Visits are held in English and French, and according to availability, in Italian, German or Russian.
