 Aim:

The aim of the study session is to strengthen rights-based approach in youth work with young refugees, to promote strategies that will support the young refugees in being included to the host communities, to empower the participants by equipping them with the existing tools, instruments and practices, to support the participants to develop an advocacy action relevant with the difficulties faced when refugees are transitioning to adulthood. 

 

Objectives: 

  • Encouraging a common understanding of the terms related with working with refugees in grassroot level (inclusion, integration, etc.);
  • Promoting rights based approach while working with young refugee and exploring best practices and challenges in implementation of rights based approach
  • Raising awareness about the importance of the inclusive preparation process while working with young refugees;
  • Having a better understanding about the existing tools in providing career guidance/planning services adapted to the needs of youth refugees. 
  • Learning about the Committee of Ministers’ Recommendations CM/Rec(2019)4 and CM/Rec (2015)3, its proposed measures and the examples outlined in the user-friendly guidelines to the Rec.
  • Developing competences on designing activities to strengthen the inclusion process of young refugees;
  • Promoting youth work as a tool that supports inclusion and active citizenship, as well as other relevant CoE mechanisms/documents (such as Recommendation supporting young refugees in their transition to adulthood, Compass, Education Pack)
  • Promoting cooperation between different stakeholders who work to facilitate the access to rights for young refugees through inclusion initiatives.

 

  About the organisation 

Youth Social Rights Network is an international network working on improvement of access to social rights for all young people (particularly young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods deprived of some of the basic necessities and/ or young people facing variety of disadvantages).  Our mission is to improve the access to social rights, social inclusion and participation of young people; (particularly those from disadvantaged neighborhoods  or those facing disadvantage), while protecting young people of all forms  of discrimination and violence.  Our vision is to provide professional, pluralistic, high-quality, inclusive, transparent, and effective services so as to support the transformation of Europe in a structure that respects and protects social rights of autonomous young people and provides opportunities for their active participation in modern societies.

I-participate is a non-profit organization established in 2018 and it is based in Larissa, Greece that aims to strengthen active citizenship, to support active participation among citizens and to promote European values, ideas and European identity and culture, while at the same time highlighting lifelong learning as a necessary means for strengthening citizenship.
