Back Youth policy advisory mission to Georgia

Youth policy advisory mission to Georgia

From 24 to 26 September 2019, a Council of Europe delegation composed of representatives of the European Steering Committee for Youth (CDEJ), the Advisory Council on Youth (CCJ), the European Youth Forum (YFJ), an expert in youth participation and a programme manager from the Council of Europe Youth Policy Division are visiting Georgia (Tbilisi and Rustavi) to advise the newly created Youth Agency on a new participatory youth policy.

The delegation will meet several key stakeholders, including decision makers from the Youth Agency, representatives of youth organisations and local youth councils, of Tbilisi and Rustavi City Assemblies and City Halls, as well as with representatives of the Sports and Youth Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.

The delegation will provide advice to the national authorities on how to ensure Georgia’s youth policy not only promotes meaningful youth participation in decision-making but is also developed with young people, in line with the Council of Europe's standards in the field of youth.

This advisory mission is part of the package of intergovernmental assistance measures to member States in the field of youth, carried out under the aegis of the CDEJ. This mission is being organised at a crucial juncture in the national political context when a new Youth Agency has been established under the Prime Minister’s Office. The main findings and recommendations of the advisory mission will be summarised in a report to be submitted shortly to the national authorities.
