The High Level Group of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the Congress of the Council of Europe will meet on 16 January 2018 in Brussels, Belgium. This meeting is part of the broader framework of cooperation between the two bodies and aims to define common priorities to be pursued in 2018. Chaired by Committee of the Regions President Karl-Heinz LAMBERTZ and Congress President Gudrun MOSLER-TÖRNSTRÖM, the participants will take stock of on-going cooperation, including the activities of the Conference of Regional and Local Authorities for the Eastern Partnership (CORLEAP) and the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM); decentralisation in Ukraine, the EU enlargement process, as well as the fight against corruption. The two bodies will revise modalities of their cooperation agreement and identify thematic and political priorities for 2018. In this regards the Congress will present its Human Rights Manual for Local Authorities that brings together good practices all over Europe at local and regional levels. The participants will also discuss the Congress/CoR co-operation in the field of election observation, and have an exchange of views on the situation of local democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in particular in Mostar.
