BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA: Media and Information Literacy: for Human Rights and More Democracy “Media and Information Literacy: for Human Rights and More Democracy” Project (2020 – 2022)

The Media and Information Literacy: for Human Rights and More Democracy project aims to enhance media literacy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and develop the capabilities of groups such as public officials, university students, civil society organisations, media actors and citizens to access, understand and critically use the information available in the media.

In more concrete terms, the project has two main objectives:

  • (i) first, it aims at setting a strategic framework for developing media and information literacy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in line with Council of Europe standards
  • (ii) second, it seeks to reinforce the capacities of public officials, university students, civil society organisations and media professionals to produce and consume good quality media content, enhancing media literacy as regards educational resources and online content

The objectives of the project will be met through two main components planned between 2020 and 2022, namely:

  1. Supporting policy-making institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the professional community (specifically targeting the education and media sectors as well as the Media Regulatory Authority) to develop a Media Literacy Strategy as well as relevant Action Plans
  2. Developing quality training material and media content as well as sharing and promoting such content among different beneficiaries in Bosnia and Herzegovina (including university students, media professionals, educators or civil society organisations)
