The President of the Congress, Jean-Claude Frécon, paid an official visit to Reykjavik in Iceland on 27 and 28 September 2016, accompanied by the Secretary General of the Congress Andreas Kiefer. They met Katrín Júlíusdóttir, Vice-Chair of the Icelandic Parliament’s Environment and Communications Committee and former Minister of Finance and Industry, Björn Blöndal, Councillor and Chair of the Executive Committee of Reykjavik City Council, Ragnhildur Arnljótsdóttir, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior, and Herman Sæmundsson, Director-General of Human Rights at the Ministry of the Interior. Inter-municipal co-operation and the priorities of the Congress for the period 2017-2020 were also discussed.
