Committees
Monitoring Committee
The Committee on the Monitoring of the implementation of the European Charter of Local Self-Government and on the respect of Human Rights and the Rule of Law at local and regional levels (Monitoring Committee) is responsible for monitoring the application of the European Charter of Local Self-Government (ETS No. 122) and its Additional Protocol on the right to participate in the affairs of a local authority (CETS No. 207) by Council of Europe member states that have ratified these legal instruments.
Governance Committee
The Committee on Governance, Civic Engagement and the Environment (Governance Committee) is responsible for issues related to governance and the functioning of local and regional authorities, including civic participation, the environment, education, culture and cultural heritage. A human rights perspective underpins the work of the committee.
Social Inclusion Committee
The Committee on Social Inclusion and Human Dignity (former Current Affairs Committee) is responsible for ensuring contributions by local and regional authorities to the promotion and implementation of Council of Europe’s core values in the areas of social cohesion, equality and non-discrimination.
