''Yesterday’s terrorist attack here, in Eilat, proved once again that there can be no lasting peace without a genuine culture of peace which permeates all levels of society, starting from the grassroots level,'' stressed Ian Micallef, President of the Local Authorities’ Chamber of the Congress, addressing a conference on peace and international relations held in Eilat, Israel.
''This cowardly act,deserves nothing but condemnation and will lead to nothing but escalation of violence if Israel decides to respond – the escalation that must be prevented at all costs, or the horror of yesterday in Eilat will become tomorrow the nightmare for all,'' he said.

''L’attentat terroriste perpétré hier à Eilat est une preuve de plus qu’il ne peut y avoir de paix durable sans une véritable culture de paix à tous les niveaux de la société, et, avant tout, au niveau local,'' a souligné Ian Micallef, Président de la Chambre des pouvoirs locaux du Congrès, lors de la conférence sur la paix et les relations internationales qui se tient Eilat, Israël. ''Face à cet acte de lâcheté la condamnation est la seule réponse qui s’impose. Cet acte n’aboutira à rien d’autre qu’à l’escalade de la violence, si Israël décide de réagir – une escalade qui doit être empêchée à tout prix, faute de quoi l’horreur d’hier à Eilat deviendra demain le cauchemar de tous,'' a-t-il déclaré.
