New Advisory Council on Youth ready to start its 2026-2027 mandate

The members of the new Advisory Council on Youth for the 2026-2027 mandate met at the European Youth Centre Strasbourg from 31 January to 2 February 2026 for their induction course.

Meeting each other in person for the first time, the Advisory Council on Youth worked on common and emerging themes and priorities relevant to young people across Europe, as well as on how to contribute to introduce a youth perspective into the work of the Council of Europe.

Throughout the induction course the Advisory Council on Youth met with the President of the Committee of Ministers’ Rapporteur Group on Education, Culture, Sport, Youth and Environment, the Office of the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly, the Private Office of the President of the European Court for Human Rights, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights and the Secretariat of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities to deepen mutual understanding and co-operation.

The Advisory Council on Youth (CCJ) is composed of 30 representatives from international non-governmental youth organisations, national youth councils, and youth networks in Europe. It serves as the non-governmental partner in the Council of Europe’s co-management system for youth policy, working together with the governmental partner, the European Steering Committee for Youth (CDEJ). Together, these two bodies form the Joint Council on Youth (CMJ), which takes decisions on the priorities and work of the Council of Europe’s youth sector. The Advisory Council on Youth’s first official meeting will take place at the European Youth Centre Budapest from 23 to 25 March 2026.
