More than 30 trainers and multipliers took part in the residential seminar of COMPASS Training in Human Rights Education (THRE), held at the European Youth Centre (EYC) Budapest from 28 September to 6 October.
Organised in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the course brought together educators from Council of Europe member states and the Middle East and North Africa region.
After building a foundation through online learning from June, participants met in Budapest to deepen their understanding of human rights and human rights education (HRE), explore COMPASS and other HRE manuals and resources, and strengthen their skills in the field.
From October to December, participants will carry out follow-up activities in their own contexts, adapting HRE to local communities and working with young people. The projects will draw on COMPASS and supported the implementation of the Council of Europe Charter on Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education, the UN World Programme for Human Rights Education, and the UN Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training.
