German Presidency of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers
The Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe was handed over from Greece to Germany, which was organised as an online meeting on 18 November 2020 in the presence of representatives of its 47 member states.
The President of the Congress Anders Knape welcomed Germany’s priorities for the coming six months, which were presented by the German Minister for Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas, He praised in particular their intention to upholding human rights, democracy and the rule of law, shaping the future and bringing Europe closer to the citizens as well as strengthening youth participation as well as gender equality in political life.
The Congress will actively support also Germany’s priority to contribute to global efforts to address the current environmental challenges.
Priorities of the German Presidency
The German delegation to the Congress comprises of 18 representatives and 18 substitutes.
The head of the delegation is Bernd Vöhringer.
