Through our eyes: Deaf youth countering conflict and xenophobia

The European Union of the Deaf Youth (EUDY), in cooperation with the Council of Europe, organised the study session “Through our eyes: Deaf youth countering conflict and xenophobia” at the European Youth Centre Budapest, from 3 to 9 May 2026.

The study session brought together Deaf young people from across Europe to explore, through non-formal education, how misinformation spreads, how it shapes perceptions, and how discrimination, stereotypes and prejudice appear in different contexts. It also looked at the role of accessible information, intercultural dialogue and the sharing of experiences in countering xenophobia and attitudes of exclusion.

Participants took part in a Human Library, group discussions, and prepared visual media outputs, campaigns and recommendations based on their main learning: building connections across the European deaf youth community and bringing these new insights back into their everyday lives.
