About the organisation
The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is one of the largest student associations in Europe, established in 1989 to support and promote student mobility. Officially registered in 1990, ESN is an independent, non-partisan, non-political, and non-profit international association operating under Belgian law, having its Headquarters based in Brussels, Belgium. ESN is supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe.
ESN collaborates with over 1000 higher education institutions across 46 countries. With around 15,000 active members offering services to approximately 350,000 international students each year, ESN functions mainly on a volunteer basis and operates at the local, national, and international levels. ESN aims to make education more mobile and inclusive, promoting intercultural understanding through student exchange and “internationalisation at home” for those who cannot study abroad.
