Aim

The aim of the study session is to initiate a discussion on AI ethics with youth organisations, guiding the way towards a human-rights based internal standards when using AI powered tools in their work and the youth sector broadly.

This aim is framed by securing access to young people’s rights and protection of their rights as beneficiaries of youth organisations programmes which are now becoming more powered by AI tools. It is also taking stock of the AI Convention and its principles, preparing the youth sector to play a role in raising awareness about AI ethics and promoting the human rights-based approach in using AI tools.
 

 Objectives

• Empowering youth organisations in being vigilant, attentive and conscious when using AI tools when developing and delivering their day-to-day activities.
• Enhancing the role of youth organisations to be multipliers of discussions around AI ethics and include this information into their regular administration programmes and their activities with the direct beneficiaries.
• Building knowledge of youth organisations to understand and become stakeholders in work with the upcoming EU AI Act and the Council of Europe’s AI Convention in the context of increasing cases of discrimination based on the use of AI.
