Aim
This study session aims to advance participants' competences in applying intersectional human rights-based approaches to address challenges faced by young female migrants and refugees, allowing for tailored support that places extra value on the lived experiences.
Objectives
The objectives of the study session are:
- To identify and analyse the obstacles faced by young migrant & refugee women in the context of human rights.
- To explore how intersections of systemic forms of discrimination create a multi-layered disadvantage for young migrant & refugee women.
- To equip participants with tools and strategies (including the relevant Council of Europe’s recommendations) to empower young migrant & refugee women to advocate for their rights.
- To examine how Rights-based advocacy can contribute to addressing underlying factors affecting the lived experiences of young migrant & refugee women.
- To facilitate the sharing of resources, lessons-learned, and good practices among the participants; mapping relevant initiatives/organisations across Europe, and creating space for networking, future collaboration, and follow-up activities.
About the organisation(s)
Voices of Young Refugees in Europe (VYRE) is a refugee-led network created by, with, and for refugees in the effort to strengthen the voices of individual refugees and refugee-serving organisations in Europe. Through Capacity-Building and Advocacy, VYRE promotes young refugees’ rights & agency, and supports them in developing their competences to reinforce their meaningful participation in society.
