This week, the European Youth Centre Budapest hosts the study session “Empowering Change: Advancing Gender Equality and Peacebuilding in Europe”, organised in co-operation with the European Young Women’s Christian Association (European YWCA).
Bringing together 35 young women from across Europe, the session aims to deepen participants’ understanding of peacebuilding and conflict transformation through a feminist lens. The programme addresses key themes including human rights, anti-discrimination, intersectionality, and transformative leadership.
As part of the week-long session, participants will connect with the work of Phiren Amenca, a Roma organisation committed to, among other priorities, empowering and supporting young Roma women. This exchange will offer participants practical insight into grassroots peacebuilding work and inclusive community engagement.
Participants will gain practical tools and resources to support their own communities and YWCAs while also learning to prioritise well-being in activism as peace-makers.
