Retour Educational Forum for youth centres of the Quality Label network

Educational Forum for youth centres of the Quality Label network

On 19-23 October, the Quality Label for Youth Centres Educational Forum was organised in Magdeburg, Germany.
This year, the event was hosted by the newest member of the Quality Label network, the European Youth Education Centre Magdeburg (EJBM).

More than 30 members of the pedagogical teams from 13 Quality Label centres and other candidate centres attended the Forum, which aimed to explore the connection between young people and democratic participation.  Over four working days, youth workers discussed the various forms of youth participation in their local cities, communities and countries. With the aim to strengthen labelled youth centres as Hubs of Democracy, participants also explored the major threats to democracy in their local environments, as well as recent political events that challenge democracy and concern young people that they work with.

The Forum takes place during several important Council of Europe political processes related to youth and beyond, including the adoption of The New Democratic Pact for Europe, the conclusions of the 10th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers Responsicle for Youth, the process of consultation and adoption of the Revised European Charter on the Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life and the follow up of the 4th European Youth Work Convention.

The Forum provided an ideal opportunity for the network to brainstorm about the way in which they can be involved in these key processes going forward.
