Retour Arts, Rights & Papers

Human Rights Education Youth Network (HREYN)

 Aim:

The aim of this study session is to motivate participants in engaging with human rights advocacy for systemic changes that will offer opportunities for marginalised groups to actively participate in society, specifically undocumented youth.

Objectives:

  • To gather young people with experience in one of these three key areas: activism, arts and communication to share knowledge and competences, and collaborate together for the efficient promotion of human rights.
  • To equip practitioners that are active in the youth field with innovative methodologies, such as: (participatory) artistic tools, communication strategies for promoting human rights, and the adoption of an intersectional and human rights based approach.
  • To increase participants’ capacity to advocate for human rights with and for the marginalised groups.
  • To promote the use of arts as a tool to advocate for human rights and to practise those during the project.
  • To identify the needs and challenges that undocumented youth face, as being one to the groups with less access to human rights and contribute for policy changes that will restitute those rights.

 Project phases:

The project is carried out in several steps during 2023.

  • Phase 1, May 2023: A study session in the European Youth Centre Budapest.
  • Phase 2, summer 2023: Participants work independently to produce artworks.
  • Phase 3, October 2023: A 3-day closing seminar, where participants come together to showcase their projects in an art exhibition.
