The Congress participates in the 25th Lisbon Forum

On 25 and 26 November 2019, The Council of Europe is organising its annual Lisbon Forum, which will focus this year on achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Congress will be represented in the Forum by its Vice-Presidents Xavier Cadoret (France, SOC/G/PD) and Gunn-Marit Helgesen (Norway, EPP/CCE) as well as its Secretary General Andreas Kiefer. Numerous local elected officials and a Congress youth delegate will also participate in the Forum.

Ms Helgesen will be speaking at the opening of the Forum, to present the Congress and its achievements in the field of UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

In the framework of the Forum, the Congress will also organise a thematic workshop on the contributions of local and regional authorities to the implementation of the UN Agenda 2030. This workshop, entitled “Why does localising SDGs matter? Building a sustainable future in our communities”, will focus on SDG implementation by the local and regional authorities, using an inclusive and integrated approach.
