Sexual violence against children: implementing actions at the territorial level and taking into account the situation of children affected by the refugee crisis
At the Seminar of National Associations of Local and Regional Authorities on 13 June 2017 in Belgrade, Serbia, the participants reviewed the actions taken on the Pact of Cities and Regions to stop sexual violence against children and adopted conclusions calling on the Congress to continue its work in four fronts encouraging local authorities: to develop awareness-raising actions on the occasion of the European Day for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse held on 18 November each year, in particular in schools; to create specific pages on their municipal websites, including contact information for social and health services, police, justice and NGOs; to sign the Pact and use the toolkit developed to accompany local and regional authorities; and to take into account the situation of children affected by the refugee crisis as a result of the special risks to which they are exposed.
