Michalis Angelopoulos, (Greece, EPP/CCE) Head of Greek Delegation in the Congress and Mayor of Samos Island, was interviewed during the Congress Monitoring Committee Meeting in Warsaw about the Greek Government’s request for communities to provide financial support facing an increasingly difficult economic situation. He warned about the plight of refugees in Greece saying that “between 14 and 18 August 2015, in only two days, the number of refugees in Greece represented 50% of all refugees from the previous year”. He also gave his insights about the measures that should be undertaken at the European level, and welcomed the recent vote in the European Parliament of the second plan to relocate refugees in member States.
