Early Local elections in Chisinau and Balti: Congress carries out an Electoral Assessment Mission to the Republic of Moldova

A delegation from the Congress will carry out an Electoral Assessment Mission to the Republic of Moldova from 17 to 22 May 2018, in view of the 20 May 2018 new local elections scheduled in seven Municipalities, including the capital City of Chisinau and in Balti.

Headed by Gunn Marit HELGESEN (Norway, EPP/CCE), President of the Congress Chamber of Regions and Country Rapporteur for the Republic of Moldova, the delegation includes eight participants.

Prior to Election Day, high-level meetings are scheduled in Chisinau, notably with Alina RUSSU, President of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova and with representatives of the international community. On 18 and 19 May, the delegation will also exchange views in Chisinau and Balti with representatives of candidates and political parties running in the local elections.

On Election Day, three Congress’ teams will be deployed to different areas, including Chisinau, Balti and four other Municipalities.
