A delegation from the Congress, led by Congress Vice-President Amy Koopmanschap (Netherlands, SOC) will be undertaking a mission to Republic of Moldova from 9 to 15 June 2015 to observe the local elections scheduled for 14 June. The delegation, composed of members of the Congress and of the European Union Committee of the Regions, will meet, among others, Vasile Batca, Minister for Regional Development and Construction, Iurie Ciocan, Chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Moldova, and Dorin Chirtoaca, Mayor of Chisinau. As well as visiting the capital, Chisinau, the delegation will go to meet candidates in other towns such as Comrat and Balti. It will be working together on this mission with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE-ODIHR), with whom it will be holding a press conference in Chisinau on 15 June 2015 to present the preliminary conclusions.
