First event aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Macedonian media regulatory authority, the Agency for audio and audio-visual media services.

Two consecutive meetings, encompassing a training and a workshop, were held on 27 and 30 January 2017 in Skopje. The meetings were facilitated by two international consultants, a university professor of media and communications studies with specialization in journalism, and a lawyer from the Registry of the Court in Strasbourg.

The aim of the meetings was to build up on the knowledge of the Agency’s staff as regards professional journalistic standards during the first day, and to increase awareness as regards human rights standards and the ECtHR case law in respect to the Freedom of Expression during the second day.

The two meetings were organised within the scope of the Joint Project “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX)”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
