Signing of the Grant Agreement in Podgorica, Montenegro (JUFREX)

Signing of the Grant Agreement between the European Union and the Council of Europe joint programme "Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX)"  and the Centre for training in judiciary and state prosecution service, Montenegro took place on 27 April in Podgorica.

The overall objective of the project is to promote freedom of expression and freedom of the media in line with Council of Europe standards, with a specific focus on the Judiciary in South-East Europe. The subject of the Grant agreement are trainings for judges and state prosecutors on freedom of expression standards, that will be organized from May 2017 to December 2018.  The aim of cooperation is to enhance the application of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) case-law in the field of freedom of expression in the daily work of the judiciary through the interpretation and implementation of relating legislation, in line with European standards.

Prior to the Grant Agreement signing the speeches were given by Lejla Dervišagić, Head of Cooperation Unit, Media and Internet Division, Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law, Council of Europe, Strasbourg; Patrick Schmelzer, Attaché, Programme Manager, Delegation of the European Union, Podgorica and Senka Danilović, President of the Managerial Board, the Centre for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution Service, Montenegro.
