Nordic Change Makers: Empowering Youth to Build a Hate-Free Future

From 9 to 13 March, the European Youth Centre Strasbourg hosted the “Nordic Change Makers: Crafting a Hate-Free Future” study session. It gathered young activists from Nordic countries, committed to combatting hate speech and fostering inclusive communities.

Organised in partnership with the No Hate Nordic youth network, the session aimed to equip participants with tools and strategies to respond to hate speech and strengthen positive dialogue.

During the week, participants also visited the Palais de l’Europe, the headquarters of the Council of Europe. They were welcomed by Stefan Manevski, Senior Project Officer at the Hate Speech, Hate Crime and Artificial Intelligence Unit. The group took part in a Q&A session about the Council’s ongoing work to address hate speech and protect human rights. They have also joined the guided tour of the building, including visit to the Hemicycle, where the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe meets.

The study session featured interactive workshops, debates, and scripting of group projects. By the end of the week, participants worked together to create an information pack with practical steps for confronting hate speech. The pact includes educational resources, campaign ideas, and guidance on legal frameworks.
