Youth Work: (Re)discover our flagship tool – The Council of Europe’s Youth Work Portfolio

Youth work plays a crucial role in supporting, including, and empowering young people across Europe. To support and recognise everyone who is committed to working with and for young people on a daily basis, the Council of Europe has developed the Youth Work Portfolio, a key tool for assessing and developing youth work competences. This tool, acknowledged at the European level, aims to strengthen the quality and recognition of sector professionals’ skills, while fostering their personal and professional growth.

Now available in French and Ukrainian, the Portfolio is designed for all individuals, teams, organisations, and stakeholders active in the youth work sector. It enables everyone to identify, deepen, and showcase their competences, while enhancing recognition of their engagement in youth work throughout Europe.

Designed to support youth work youth workers and leaders, managers, policy makers, and anyone interested in the field, the Portfolio provides a structured framework for reflecting on practice, progressing collectively, and strengthening the recognition of youth work. Its contribution is essential to the continuous improvement and visibility of youth work practices.

Easy to use, the Portfolio supports those who wish to evaluate their competences, undertake training, and highlight the positive impact of youth work in society.

The Portfolio website will soon be revamped to make it even more accessible and intuitive for users, with a launch planned for Spring 2026.
