On 18-21 December the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Genève brings together over 2000 representatives from national authorities, Internet businesses and civil society. The Youth Department runs two sessions on youth participation and combatting hate speech.

On 19 December the session ‘How counter-narratives can strengthen Pluralistic Democracy’ explores how to take action on hate speech online using Human Rights based counter and alternative narratives using the manual We CAN!. The session can be re-watched online

On 20 December the session ‘Youth Participation in Internet Governance’ reflects on the findings of the ‘Seminar on Youth Participation in Internet Governance’ held in Strasbourg in November 2017 and seek to gain more recommendations for actions and concrete proposal for their implementation.
