Youth Minorities United for Self-Determination

This week, the European Youth Centre Budapest welcomes young activists and NGO representatives for a 6-day study session, Achieving Justice through our Youth Minorities: Building Capacity to work together for a fairer future“.

Organised in co-operation with the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization Youth (UNPOY) with the support of Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), the event seeks to increase the capacity of minority, indigenous, and autochthonous youth to defend their rights and advocate for self-determination.

The study session aims to foster intercultural solidarity and equip participants with essential skills and knowledge to advance self-determination within diverse political and cultural contexts. Activities include discussions on climate justice, minority rights, and strategies for navigating democratic challenges.

Throughout the week, guest lecturers like Liam Saddington from Cambridge University, UK and Shima Silavi, expert in the field of transitional justice, Belgium will provide valuable perspectives on transitional justice and the specific challenges marginalised communities face. Participants will have opportunities to network, share cultural insights, and brainstorm projects to implement back with their communities.

On the final day, participants will outline their future initiatives and explore pathways for collaboration with UNPOY, reinforcing their commitment to supporting self-determination and community empowerment across borders.

Read more about the study session on the dedicated web page.
