The Council of Europe and the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine are holding the final stage of the Compass long-term training course for youth trainers in human rights education with young people in Ukraine (LTTC) at the European Youth Centre Budapest.

 The gathering brings together trainers who initiated the Compass LTTC in 2019 at a seminar in Irpin and whose training path was interrupted fist by the Covid pandemic and later by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. In this evaluation and consolidation seminar, the participants complete their learning process by sharing their experiences and projects with young people across Ukraine and elsewhere in Europe. In addition to the evaluation and consolidation of the course, the participants will be better prepared to support youth policy and youth work based on human rights approach with young people in Ukraine.

 The programme features networking opportunities among the trainers, as well as follow-up activities involving key stakeholders such as the Council of Europe Youth Department, the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine, and the project Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase II.

This study visit takes place within the Framework Programme for Cooperation in the field of Youth Policy between the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine for 2021-2025. The Framework Programme has supported youth policy reforms in Ukraine and the implementation of relevant strategy programmes, notably the National Youth Strategy 2030, the State Target Social Programme “Youth of Ukraine” 2021-2025, and new legislation in the field of youth policy and youth work in Ukraine. The priorities and modes of intervention reflect the orientations of the Council of Europe Youth Sector Strategy 2030. The Framework Programme is complementary to the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine  and the project Youth for Democracy in Ukraine.
