The study session International Voluntary Service for Youth (IVS4Youth)” focuses on one of the strategic priorities of the Council of Europe youth sector : Living together in peaceful and inclusive societies and Youth Work.
Specifically, study session aimed to provide Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations increased opportunities and approved competences to include more young people in international volunteering with the aim to provide increased opportunities for personal development, intercultural exchange and community development.
Through IVS4Youth, Alliance plans to create an inclusive and safe environment to tackle the following objectives so that we can contribute to the aim:
- to increase the capacities of our members' youth workers in recruitment/marketing/visibility for them to apply in their organisation's activities;
- to increase the knowledge of our members' youth workers about the young persons' learning outcomes from international volunteering - related to their personal and professional development as well as civic participation - and promote these among potential young volunteers;
- to increase expertise in setting up partnerships with other organisations (such as universities, schools...) that can be beneficial to involve more young people in our projects.
Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations is a network of 51 member organisations that cooperate in the field of (international) volunteering and solidarity projects.
Outcome of the study session is a group of 21 trained youth workers in the field of IVS with improved competences to include more young people in IVS activities. The participants of the study session also worked on creation of a manual with tips, tricks and best practices for any IVS organisation to include more young people in IVS activities.
