The report on “Protection, Promotion and Development of the Ombudsman Institution” has been published in Turkish

The report on “Protection, Promotion and Development of the Ombudsman Institution” prepared by the Council of Europe in September 2019, with the purpose to promote and develop the Ombudsman Institution in the member States of the Council of Europe, has been translated to Turkish within the scope of the Project. This report is aimed to be shared with the public service units and judicial community; and to be used as a source in the project’s activities related to enhancing the role of the Turkish Ombudsman Institution.

The new Recommendation CM/Rec(2019)6 of the Committee of Ministers to Member States on the development of the Ombudsman institution was adopted on 16 October 2019. It has been preceded by the adoption of Principles on the Protection and Promotion of the Ombudsman Institution by the Venice Commission (“the Venice Principles”). These two documents are complementary and constitute and updated set of European standards covering all aspects of establishment and functioning of the Ombudsman institutions.

The publication also includes a selection of good national practices which highlight the application of these standards in Europe.

Launching of the report will be made in cooperation with the Turkish Ombudsman Institution and through the simultaneous announcements with the pop-ups for a week (29 January -5 February 2021), and will be placed on the website of the institution (www.ombudsman.gov.tr), as well as on the dedicated webpage of the Ministry of Justice to the Project (https://idariyargiprojesi.adalet.gov.tr/) simultaneously.
