CONSULTATION MEETING ON ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION METHODS IN ADMINISTRATIVE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN GERMANY

A consultation meeting on “Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods in German Administrative Judiciary System” was held on 17 February 2022. The aim of the meeting was to explore available alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, practices and experience in the German Administrative Justice System, and to seek further platforms to exchange views in this connection.

The meeting received interest with participation of around 20 people, including representatives from the Council of State of Turkey, Directorate General of Legislation and Directorate General of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice of Turkey as well as presidents of the Regional Administrative Courts and Pilot Courts of the project.

Dr Otto Mallman brought his expertise and presented the ADR methods in Germany as a response to the questions previously addressed to him. The meeting continued with a Q&A session whereby the Turkish stakeholders found the opportunity to address their specific questions regarding the German administrative justice system.

Minutes of the meeting will be shared with stakeholders in March 2022.

 

The Joint Project on Improving the Effectiveness of the Administrative Judiciary and Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of the Council of State is co-funded by the European Union, the Council of Europe and the Republic of Turkey, and implemented by the Council of Europe. The Turkish Ministry of Justice - Directorate General for Legal Affairs is the end beneficiary of the Project. The Central Finance and Contracts Unit is the contracting authority of this Project.
