Training of Trainers on Legal Reasoning and Judgment Drafting (Module 1)

By virtue of the Recommendation No. R(94)12 to Member States on the Independence, Efficiency and Role of Judges, ‘Judges should give clear reasons for their judgments in language which is clear and comprehensible’[1]

 

The training of trainers (ToT) on Legal Reasoning and Judgment Drafting (Module 1) was held in Sapanca-Sakarya between 13-16 December 2021 with the participation of 19 judges from Adana, Ankara, Bursa, Gaziantep, Konya, Istanbul and Samsun Regional Administrative Courts, as well as the Council of State.

 

The four-day training was delivered by adult education experts Prof Dr Cennet Engin Demir, international consultant Maria Marinova, Measurement and Evaluation Expert Prof Dr Hasan Atak, module writers Prof Dr Bahtiyar Akyılmaz, Assoc. Prof Dr Tolga Şirin and Dr Erkan Duymaz.

The 1st day of the trainer training program aimed to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of the participants on adult education and the training of judges. The 4 sessions prepared on this subject have been carried out by the education and training experts, who prepared the training methodology section.

On the 2nd and 3rd days of the training, 8 sessions of a model training that were planned to help the participants improve their knowledge and skills on legal reasoning and judgment drafting were delivered. These sessions were prepared by the subject experts/module writers with support of education and training experts in accordance with the principles of adult education.

 

On the 4th day of the training of trainers, the trainer candidates made their presentations. Presentations were observed and evaluated by both module writers and education and training experts.

 

Following the training of trainers, cascade trainings on Module 1 will start in the next term.
