On 29 September – 2 October, in the framework of the Quality Label for Youth Centres Programme, a study visit to the European Youth Education Centre Magdeburg (EJBM) took place whereby EJBM welcomed representatives of Vila Braun in Sarajevo for three days of peer learning and exchange.
The study visit was a follow-up to the exploratory visit of the Quality Label expert team to different centres in Bosnia and Herzegovina, among them to Vila Braun in Sarajevo, following which it was suggested that representatives from Vila Braun visit the Magdeburg Youth Centre, drawing on the similarities in their model of operation and the existing links between the two cities.
During the visit, the European Youth Education Centre Magdeburg introduced the delegation from the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton and youth organisations in Sarajevo to the work and organisational structure of the Magdeburg Youth Centre, its programmes and methods of working with young people, as well as the processes that preceded the achievement of the Council of Europe Quality Label for Youth Centres. The hosts also shared their experiences, good practices, challenges and lessons learned throughout the establishment and development of EJBM.
The visit also provided an example of successfully running a modern youth centre in a building under historical protection, while creating an environment that meets the needs of young people.
This activity was organised by the Council of Europe Youth Department as part of the
Quality Label for Youth Centres Programme.
