On June 14, 2022, Patrick Penninckx, Head of the Information Society Department presented the latest policy recommendations of the Council of Europe for preserving freedom of expression and enhancing media freedom at the ICCO European Forum.

He informed international experts on communication on latest developments in the Council of Europe regarding:

  • Freedom of media/ free speech
  • Media literacy and education
  • AI and Digital Media Ethics
  • Practical support for Ukraine in the sphere of PR and communications (tackling misinformation, amplifying stories/ narratives)

ICCO is part of the Council of Europe Digital Partnership since February 2020. The organisation provides a forum for senior management of the world’s leading PR consultancies to meet and address issues of mutual interest and concern.

Following the decision of the Committee of Ministers on 16 March 2022 the Russian Federation is no longer a member of the Council of Europe. The website will be updated as soon as possible to take account of this development.
