Council of Europe Hosts High-Level Conference on Media Literacy and Information Integrity

On 20 March 2026, under the auspices of the New Democratic Pact for Europe and the Moldovan Presidency of the Committee of Ministers, the Council of Europe will host the High-Level Conference on Media Literacy and Information Integrity: Building Resilience to Disinformation and FIMI in Europe at MAIB Park Chișinău.

With the New Democratic Pact for Europe, the Council of Europe unites with its partners to boost and integrate solutions that work and create new responses. This Conference is offering the opportunity for institutions from various member States and partners to exchange critical experiences and discuss specific mechanisms to collectively find innovative ways in which to build a healthier, more resilient, and trustworthy information environment across Europe.

Organised with the support of the project Advancing Media Freedom in the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe’s Freedom of Expression and CDMSI Division, the event will highlight Media and Information Literacy (MIL) as a central tool to empower citizens to critically assess and respond to misleading or harmful content. It will launch of two CDMSI documents promoting effective national MIL strategies and actionable tools to counter disinformation, and provide updates on the work of the Committee of Experts on Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (PC-FIMI).
