On 19-20 October 2017 in Tbilisi, the trainers of the High School of Justice of Georgia participated in a Training of Trainers on Anti-Trafficking in Human Beings, facilitated by the international consultant for the Project, Ms Shivaun Scanlan. As a follow-up of the needs assessment session held in September this year, the objective of the two-day training was to prepare for the scheduled pilot training on the topic. Upon the completion of these stages, the module will be included in the High School of Justice curricula for the continuous training of judges.

Participants - judges-trainers from the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Tbilisi Court of Appeals and representatives of the High School of Justice - thoroughly analysed international standards and pivotal cases, as well as respective provisions of national legislation and court practice. As a result of the Training of Trainers, the final structure and the agenda of the pilot training was agreed to be delivered to an audience of judges in December 2017.

The activity was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening the capacity of the High School of Justice of Georgia”. This Project is funded by voluntary contributions of Bulgaria, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, Slovak Republic and Sweden to support the implementation of the Council of Europe Action plan for Georgia 2016-2019.
