Youth for Democracy: Study session in Budapest promotes political participation of young people

The Youth Department of the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the European Coordination JECI-MIEC, is hosting a study session titled "Shaping our World across Generations: Understanding the Past to Create a Democratic and Sustainable Future"at the European Youth Centre Budapest from 24 April to 28 April. The aim of the session is to reinforce the confidence of young people in democracy and encourage them to engage in sustainable democratic processes.

31 young people, all members of JECI-MIEC, will participate in the study session to critically analyse the past and present events' implications on democratic future. They will also become familiar with concepts of political participation of young people and deepen their understanding of the link between political participation, democracy, and sustainable development.

Throughout the study session, participants will also learn about the Council of Europe standards in the field of youth participation and develop a local follow-up project by the end of the session. This study session presents an exceptional opportunity for young people to develop their knowledge and skills in the field of democratic participation and sustainable development.
