Supporting youth participation and human rights education with young people in the Republic of Moldova

In today's global context, with many competing priorities, it is essential to provide ways and incentives for young people to meaningfully engage with human rights issues. It is necessary to deliver durable solutions for young people, beyond rigid project cycles, particularly those outside the capital who have limited or no access to opportunities. Both governmental and non-governmental youth stakeholders in the Republic of Moldova, including a network of local youth centres, and established co-operation, have laid foundations for quality development of youth participation and youth work at local and European levels.

These were among the key messages of the roundtable dedicated to youth participation and human rights education with young people in the Republic of Moldova, which brought together youth stakeholders, notably the National Youth Agency, the National Youth Council of Moldova, and youth civil society organisations. Participants had the opportunity to discuss the outcomes of the Human Rights Education Forum held from 9 to 11 December in Budapest within the Moldovan presidency of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, as well as the Council of Europe co-management system with representative of the Advisory Council on Youth.

The event is organised within the framework of the Council of Europe project "Youth for Democracy and Human Rights in the Republic of Moldova," part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2025-2028. The project is implemented in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Research, the National Youth Agency, and the National Youth Council of Moldova.
