New Trends for Young People in International Voluntary Service

Youth workers, volunteers, and experts have gathered at the European Youth Centre in Budapest for the study session "New Trends in International Voluntary Service (IVS)”, organised in co-operation with the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service. Taking place from 3 to 7 February, the session aims to explore evolving dynamics in youth volunteering and equip participants with the tools to navigate future challenges.

Its objectives are to enhance participants' understanding of emerging trends in IVS, including decolonisation, climate justice, and the impact of digital tools, such as AI, on volunteering and to encourage participants to apply Futures and Foresight methodologies to anticipate and navigate emerging trends in youth volunteering and social engagement.

The programme of the study session includes interactive group discussions, practical activities, and expert insights which will support participants in developing a toolkit that they will be able to apply in pilot projects in their organisations. The activity brings together some 35 youth leaders from Council of Europe member states, Indonesia, Mozambique, Peru and South Africa.
