Back Mental Health for All: Awareness, Action, and Advocacy

Mental Health for All: Awareness, Action, and Advocacy

In these uncertain times, mental health has become a critical topic worldwide. From April 20 to 24, young people from the JECI-MIEC Organisation (European Catholic Students Movement) gathered at the European Youth Centre Budapest to reflect on the challenges we face, including the causes and consequences of declining mental health.

The Study Session - organised with the support of the Council of Europe Youth Department - aimed to help young Catholic students in Europe to explore the interplay between human rights and mental health from an intersectional viewpoint, provide practical tools for community support, underscore their responsibilities in fostering inclusive and peaceful societies, and facilitate intercultural dialogue.

The programme featured facilitated discussions, experiential learning, a Living Library session, personal reflections, and other interactive formats. Using these approaches, the participants examined mental health from diverse perspectives, with sensitivity to cultural contexts.

The 29 young participants left equipped with strategies to help those in need and inspired to amplify the Study Session's impact in their local communities.
