Joint meetings of the CDEJ and CCJ Bureaux

The representatives of the Bureaux of the Advisory Council on Youth (CCJ) and the European Steering Committee for Youth (CDEJ) met at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg on 5 and 6 February 2024.

This meeting followed the joint meeting of the Presidents of the Intergovernmental Committees and the Presidents of the CDEJ and the CCJ with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, which was held on 1 February 2024 in Strasbourg and in which broad visibility was given to the integration of a Youth perspective into intergovernmental work.

The meeting provided the opportunity to discuss the follow-up to the 4th Council of Europe Summit as regards youth, in particular the work on the elaboration of a reference framework on a youth perspective.

The youth event entitled "Confidence in Tomorrow - Sharing and shaping democracy and human rights with young people", which will take place on 14-16 May 2024, and will have a prominent place in the framework of the Council of Europe's 75th anniversary celebrations, was also discussed. The Secretary General will open the event and representatives of the Member States, national youth councils and youth organisations will be invited.

The programme of the induction course for the Advisory Council on Youth 2024-2025 was presented to the CDEJ and CCJ Bureaux members.

The Joint Bureaux recommended starting the preparatory work of the Youth Work Convention as well as the Conference of Ministers of Youth, and to set up dedicated Working Groups to that purpose, including a European Steering Committee for the Youth Work Convention in which the youth statutory bodies would be represented.

The Bureaux also approved the draft agenda of the 50th meeting of the Joint Council on Youth and took note of the work plan 2024-25 of the EU/CoE Youth Partnership.
