European Youth Centre Budapest hosts study session “Pieces of peace: Building capacity with youth navigating conflict”

From 3 to 7 March, the European Youth Centre Budapest is hosting a study session organised together with World Organisation of Scout Movement - European Support Centre (WOSM), focusing on empowering young people to navigate conflict and promote peacebuilding. The study session, titled “Pieces of peace: Building capacity with youth navigating conflict” brings together young people from both scout and non-scout backgrounds to explore the role of peace education in fostering unity and co-operation in youth work.

Throughout the week, participants have engaged in discussions on addressing political polarisation and societal challenges within their communities. One of the highlights of the study session was a lecture by Tim Mortimer from the KAICIID Dialogue Centre, who provided insights into the role of dialogue in conflict transformation. The group will also have a chance to exchange views on peace education with member of the Advisory Council on Youth, Anja Jokic.

The study session aims to equip young youth workers with tools to engage in constructive dialogue, promote peacebuilding initiatives, and develop innovative methodologies in human rights education. By fostering trust and collaboration among diverse and underrepresented communities, the initiative seeks to strengthen long-term efforts for peace.
