Empowering minority youth for peaceful and inclusive societies and sustainable development

 The European Free Alliance Youth (EFAY) and the Unrepresented People’s Organisations (UNPO) host a study session to promote more inclusive, peaceful and sustainable societies in Europe and abroad through increased political and civic participation of European minorities.

 The session brings together over 40 participants from a wide variety of communities and continents with the following objectives:

  • To increase knowledge around the principles underlying the UN Sustainable Development Goal 16 on justice, inclusive and peaceful societies and its interrelationship with other SDGs, in particular related to climate and the environment, and health;
  • To build an understanding of the mechanisms that exist within Europe to promote the implementation of the goal and to combat racism and discrimination;
  • To empower European minority youth to engage in political and civic processes, promote UN SDG 16 and engage in public health and climate programming;
  • To further consolidate the pan-European minority youth movement, including both national minorities and more recent communities, sparked in previous study sessions held in cooperation with the European Youth Centre.
