Between 23 and 26 July, twelve representatives from the Timisoara local authority, the Timiș County Youth Foundation (FITT), and local youth and student organisations visited the European Youth Centre in Budapest as part of the TYPIC project (Timisoara Youth Participation in Co-Management). Funded by the European Youth Foundation, the project aims to establish a co-management system at the local level in Timișoara.

 The study visit was organised by the Timis County Youth Foundation (FITT), which manages the Timisoara Youth House — a very active member of the network of the 15 Council of Europe Quality Labelled Youth Centres.

 The programme aimed to explore best practices and strategies in co-management to enhance youth participation in local decision-making in Timișoara, while fostering cross-sector collaboration between youth and student NGOs, municipal representatives and other stakeholders committed to advancing co-management. It also aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the Council of Europe, its focus on youth empowerment and participation, and how its practices and principles can underpin effective local youth governance.

 During the visit, participants had the opportunity to discuss and exchange their local priorities with the management and educational staff of the EYCB. The revision process of the European Charter on the Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life inspired discussions about creating a local youth strategy and council in Timișoara.  Priority areas of the youth department, such as the youth perspective, the New Democracy Pack, Enter!, and Human Rights Education, were among the topics covered during the study visit, offering participants the opportunity to learn more about the Council of Europe, its youth sector, and the work of the European Youth Centre Budapest.
