Bulgaria hosted its first Consultative Visit on compliance with the European Sport Charter on 7-9 October. A team of sports policy experts met with the main stakeholders of the Bulgarian sports movement, including representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Bulgarian Football Union, the Bulgarian Sports Development Association and the President of the National Olympic Committee.

During the consultative visit, particular attention was paid to the promotion of grassroots sport and the culture of volunteering. Furthermore, the promotion of sport for all, with a particular focus on sport for the elderly, was among the discussed topics. A report on Bulgaria’s compliance with commitments, including the respective recommendations, will be made available to its authorities, following the visit.
